BAIP group companies strengthen cyber security in East Africa

The second annual conference Cyber Defence East Africa 2014 (CDEA2014) is taking place on the 16th to 19th of September in Arusha, Tanzania. The event is organized by a BAIP group company Norway Registers Development East Africa Ltd. (NRD EA) together with an independent, non-profit, global Information Systems Audit and Control Association ISACA Tanzania Chapter. The conference is sponsored by other group companies BAIP and NRD CS which also lead some of the training sessions.

During the four-day event participants will have an opportunity to take part in specialised trainings and become acquainted with all main cyber security aspects, tools and methodologies: how to respond to cyber security incidents and cyber attacks, manage risks, monitor and analyse the digital environment, perform digital forensics, ensure and manage resilience of information systems. 
 
“East African government institutions and businesses realise the importance of developing cyber security competence. Secure digital environment is vital for encouraging the development of the states, innovation and investment in the region. This was confirmed by the success of last year’s conference and that is why we have decided to organise this event annually. The most effective way to fight cyber criminals is local capacity building: spreading awareness, good practice exchange, motivation of IT specialists and cooperation on both regional and international levels” – says Mr Sebastian Marondo, CEO at NRD EA.

The conference speakers include the Minister for Home Affairs at The Government of The United Republic of Tanzania Hon.Mathias Chikawe, ISACA Tanzania Chapter president Boniface Kanemba, ISACA Uganda Chapter president Hussein Isingoma, NRD CS CEO Dr. Vilius Benetis and other cyber security experts from Lithuania, Croatia, Tanzania and Uganda.
