Sūduvos Ūkis expands its investment in Lithuanian turkey production

Sūduvos Ūkis, a subsidiary of Litagra-owned Joniškis Grūdai, last year invested EUR 0.5 million in the renovation of the equipment of the complex of turkey breeding farms and feed mill in Marijampole county last year. The company plans to invest more than EUR 0.5 million in the renovation of the farm in 2023. Up to 7,000 tons of high-quality Lithuanian turkey meat is planned to be grown in the revived farm complex per year.

“It is important to note that poultry meat production has the lowest impact on climate change, with one of the lowest CO2 emissions to obtain the same amount of nutrients. Turkey is considered to be one of the healthiest meats, it rarely causes allergies, easily digestible, low in cholesterol, but rich in zinc, iron, phosphorus, amino acids and proteins, and it practically substitutes red meat.,” said Ms Siaurusaitienė.

Last year Sūduvos Ūkis acquired a complex of 29 poultry farms and a feed mill in Marijampole county. The total investment, including adaptation of farms for growing turkeys and equipment renewal, amounted to EUR 7.5 million.

The turkeys are fed on balanced, complete feed produced by Joniškis Grūdai. Cereal crops that are used in the production of the feed are grown by local farmers. The grown products are sold not only in Lithuania, but also in other EU countries.
