Tiltra Group will Reconstruct the Southern Bypass of Bialystok

PEUiM, a Polish road construction company belonging to a group of Lithuanian transport infrastructure companies Tiltra Group, will reconstruct the southern bypass of Bialystok – pursuant to the contract signed last week, the reconstruction of Gen. St. Maczka Street, where the traffic is among the heaviest in the city, will be accomplished by the end of March 2011. The value of the contract is almost PLN 159 million (LTL 133 million).

According to Gytis Tamenas, Project Manager for Bialystok Region at Tiltra Group, in the 6-kilometre-long section of the road being reconstructed the street will be widened up to four lanes in both directions, two new elevated roads, one bridge and one flyover will be constructed. One flyover will be reconstructed.

“Fifteen kilometres of roads, including access roads, located at the bypass will be repaired”, said Mr. Tamėnas.

During the reconstruction, noise-protection screens and bicycle lanes will be set up along the bypass. PEUiM project will be implemented in association with Mosty Lodz, one of the largest bridge construction companies in Poland, under a joint activity agreement.

Gen. St. Maczka Street is among the streets with the heaviest traffic in entire Bialystok. Both lightweight transport and heavy transport runs on it in the direction of Warsaw.

According to Mr. Tamenas, Poland, given a rapid growth of investments into transport infrastructure, receives exceptional attention from Tiltra Group. Currently, the authorisation from the Polish Competition Authorities to acquire the shares of Poldim, one of the largest road and bridge construction companies in Poland, is expected.

Tiltra Group in Poland also owns Tiltra PDM Bialystok, a road construction and repair company, Dalba, a company involved in laying engineering networks and installation of purification equipment, as well as Brux, a company involved in the production of concrete blocks and other concrete products and the construction of roads.
