BAIP group: BAIP completed the first cloud computing solution between two countries

BAIP has successfully implemented and configured its first interstate project – cloud computing infrastructure in Lithuania and Belarus. The 650 thous. Eur project was financed by European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, Cross Border Cooperation programme between Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.

BAIP took part in Vilnius University project “Social, economic development and promotion of entrepreneurship through development of interstate scientific research, technological development and innovation network in cloud computing”. The aim of the project is to develop an effective platform between the two states that would be used for collaborative scientific research, innovation, technology and business development.

“This project was very special for us, because for the first time in our company’s history and, probably, in the history of Lithuanian IT, a cloud computing solution was implemented between the two states. We have contributed to an important international project and I believe that this contemporary solution will stimulate further social and economic development in both countries” – said Mr Gytis Umantas, CEO at BAIP.

The cloud is already being used for training in Lithuania and Belarus, companies in both countries are taking a close look at the platform and the opportunities it may provide, entrepreneurship seminars are being held and the community of IT professionals started cooperating.

“The cloud between Lithuania and Belarus will definitely open more opportunities for businesses and it will be a wonderful professional development platform for IT specialists”, says Algimantas Juozapavičius, professor of Vilnius University Computer Department and the leader of the project.

BAIP provides critical IT infrastructure solutions, including IT infrastructure strategy and architecture, software and hardware supply, IT security and maintenance services for more than 200 largest organisations in Lithuania.
