BAIP: International consortium wins tender by Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior to perform IT infrastructure study

Baltic IT service leader Baltic Amadeus infrastruktūros paslaugos (BAIP), together with global consulting and IT service experts GlassHouse Technologies (GlassHouse), will perform IT infrastructure study at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. The parties have signed the service agreement last week, concluding consortium’s successful participation in the tender, organized by the Ministry.

A 1,06 million LTL (€ 0,31 million) deal includes analysis of information systems, registries, databases, IT budgeting and IT staff utilization rate.  Also included are recommendations on business continuity and long term IT infrastructure development planning.   The project should encompass whole Ministry and its subdivisions and is estimated to take 10 months to complete.

The project should achieve the following major objectives: IT infrastructure analysis and recommendations to ensure IT infrastructure is reliable, easy to manage, load balanced and cost effective to maintain.  Also included are disaster recovery plans for critical IT infrastructure and recommendations on operational continuity in the case of a disaster.

Project team will also provide recommendations on improved IT architecture.  According to Mr. Raimundas Malaiška, the spokesperson of the Ministry, „recommendations should cover essential optimization needs of our organization – IT administration, resource control and service delivery.  IT architecture recommendations should also cover datacenter consolidation and their optimal locations, optimization and standardization of IT infrastructure resources, and optimal service delivery model”.

“Plans and recommendations, delivered by BAIP and GlassHouse experts, will facilitate effective IT service administration (within and among organizations), and outline common strategy, based on practical needs, thus ensuring predictable cost control and IT investment”, says Mr. Kazimieras Tonkūnas, CEO, BAIP.  According to Mr. Tonkūnas, GlassHouse participation in the project will ensure that IT systems of the Ministry are compliant to EU-backed critical infrastructure continuity concept.
